Much to describe the look of the room above as Genius? The use of black, gold , and orange, along with the large full length mirror = Heaven.  The toned down colors lend the room an air of preppiness and mascilinity.

This preppy decor reminded me of the book,  TAKE IVY, written in 1965 by executive members of the japanese clothing brand, VAN Jacket. These members are Shosuke Ishizu, Toshiyuki Kurosu, Hajime Hasegawa, and Teruyoshi Hayashida. TAKE IVY was originally published in Japan in 1965. In 2006, the book was re-released by publishing house, powerHouse Books. The book defines preppy style and was responsible for a surge in American Ivy-League style in Japan. It has become the go-to source for preppy inspiration.
